As you guys know, I'm up to my ears in moving boxes and packaging tape.  I didn't want to just throw all of my jewelry into a big box because I know it would wind up in a tangly mess, so I packed up my stuff the same way I do when I'm traveling.

I don't know about you, but when I travel, I like to take a bunch of accessory options.  To justify my travel hoarding tendencies, I came up with an easy way to store my jewelry that doesn't take up any more space than I'd usually account for.  The best part?  It's free because I use stuff I already have (and that you probably already have, too!).  So I suppose this is more of a handy tip more than a DIY, but I thought it would be helpful nonetheless! :)  Click through for more --->

You will need: a clutch, non-bulky scarf, jewelry (I chose necklaces, but you can do this with whatever jewelry you want)

To really get double duty out of this DIY, pick a clutch and scarf that go with the clothes you'll be traveling with.

Flatten out your scarf, and place a necklace near the end of the scarf.  Fold the end of the scarf over the jewelry and roll a couple times.

Place another necklace next to the roll you just made, and roll a couple of times again.  Repeat until you run out of jewelry (or scarf, haha!).

When you have everything rolled up nice and tight, fold the scarf in half (or thirds, depending on which jewelry you used).  This makes it more compact, and helps to keep your jewelry from sliding out of the ends of the scarf.

Tuck your scarf/jewelry roll into your clutch and you're ready to go.  You could easily do another scarf for more jewelry if your clutch is roomy enough.

When I travel, I really like to utilize as much space as I can.  For this DIY, I put put earrings in the zipper compartment, then layered the rest of my jewelry like this: rings at the bottom of the clutch, then necklaces in the scarf on top of that, then bracelets on top of the jewelry roll.  Things seem to stay organized better that way, and when I get to my destination, I already have a pretty scarf and clutch handy.  :)

How do you travel with jewelry?

  1. This idea is genius! I always just toss my stuff into small travel bag and hope for the best. lol

  2. Thanks! Just a handy tip to make traveling easier, I think. :D

  3. Yay! I'm so glad you liked it! It's REALLY helped me when I travel, one less (albeit small) thing to worry about. Haha! :D
