Hey y'all! Its Wednesday and you know what that means.. Fatshion Faceoff time! Woot! This week's challenge was chosen by Mhairi, and she chose... a pencil skirt! The only pencil skirts I have are of the bodycon variety so I chose to wear one of those. Wanna see?
Now, I don't know if you know this about me, but bodycon skirts scare me. Like, the I-won't-wear-them-outside kind of scary. I think it's because they're so form-fitting around the tummy, and my stomach happens to be the last area of my body I have yet to fully accept. I know people that don't like their arms, others that don't like their legs, but for me, it's my belly. It's the part of my body that's taking me the longest to get over, and a lot of the time it doesn't feel like I'm making any progress. And in all honesty, this is one of the rare blog outfits that I didn't wear outside. But now after seeing the pictures, I think my belly doesn't look that bad. I don't love it yet, but at least it's a step forward, right? :)
Now that you've seen my take the pencil skirt, make sure you click the links below to check out the other Fatshion Faceoff babes in their outfits. I'm sure everyone looks amazing!

it certainly doens't look bad and if you're incertain start waering the skirt with the top over your belly maybe it will help you to realise how well a skirt suits you xxxx
ReplyDeleteI think you look incredible in this skirt, I have the same problem with my tummy too. X
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit! Love the denim shirt with that vivid skirt and the nude shoes balances everything perfectly. You're gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteI'm becoming obsessed with chambray tops, love it! I'm in the same boat as you, definitely not totally comfortable with my tummy. But this outfit looks SO good on you, and you could definitely rock it out in public!!
ReplyDeleteI have the same belly issue. But that's why we are doing these challenges right! I think we all pushed our comfort zone this week. An you look gorgeous in that skirt Dani, I hope we see you in them more from now on :) xx
ReplyDeleteyou look great! love the colors with your chambray... beautiful! keep pushing yourself fashion-wise... it's how you overcome the fear! <3 now following!

I love this outfit. I know that it won't matter what I say (that you have to accept your body in your own right) but you really do look great in this outfit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mouna! I had thought about wearing the shirt untucked, but thought it would be better to push myself more and wear it tucked in. For going out though, I think I'll definitely try your suggestion! :) Thanks so much for the nice comment, it means a lot. xx
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks so much Mhairi. I think a lot of us struggle with the tummy, but that's what makes the FF so awesome. It pushes us to break through our insecurities, right? :) Thanks for the comment, it's good to know I'm not alone with the tummy issues. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you LuAnne! Your outfits are always top-notch, and I hope to someday have impeccable style like you! You're gorgeous, too. <3
ReplyDeleteI know, right? Like, I don't know how I LIVED before I discovered chambray shirts, lol. :) And I'll get to the point of wearing this tight stuff out in public, just takes me time to get used to it. There was a day when I wouldn't wear ANY skirts, and that obviously didn't last. ;) I'll get there! <3
ReplyDeleteYou couldn't be more right, girl. That's what I love so much about the FF, it challenges my mind and wardrobe, haha! Thanks so much for wonderful support, I hope I do the same for you. You looked amazing in your skirt today, I hope to see you in them more, too! :D xx
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks so much, Katrina. You're right that everyone has to accept themselves in their own time, but the support makes a huge difference. Thanks for always being so awesome. :) xx
ReplyDeleteLady, I think your tummy (and every other part of you!) looks gorgeous in that skirt! I'd LOVE to have a body like yours <3! I understand everyone needs to take their time (well I have kinda gone backwards now myself... don't even know why), but seriously you can rock ANYTHING, pretty lady!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I LOVE the heels! lol <3 xx
Love the skirt and the whole outfit !!! I also feel the same way about pencil/bodycon skirts-things. Plus, I always hear in my head my mum´s voice telling me: girl, that´s unapropriate and shows all your fat things. Nice, wright? You look gorgeous, but I found that maybe loosening a bit the top in a way that "falls" over the beginning of the skirt kind of covers more the tummy area (sorry, I don´t know how to explain it better in English but hope it made sense). Self acceptance is hard and takes a long way,so keep walking ;)

Ohhhh I love this outfit! You know how I feel about pencil skirts anyway, but I really love the floral with the chambray. That's awesome. And you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit and I love this blog (well, actually I subscribe to your tumblr). You look so cute without your glasses! :)
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks so much babe. :) I don't know why it still bothers me because I've made big steps forward everywhere else, but I'll get over it eventually (or I'm hoping I will!). I just need to think more to myself, if Hanna can wear bodycon, SO CAN I. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you Marta! But I'm sorry about your mom saying those things. I'm lucky to have a family that accepts (or keeps quiet if they don't) me for who I am and what I look like. I can't imagine how much harder accepting yourself is if you have other negative voices contributing to your own. I'm going to try your suggestion of wearing a looser top over tighter skirts, just until I get used to showing those curves. Thank you again for the support and encouragement! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks Jess! I can only hope to someday rock a pencil skirt half as well as you! You always make them look classy but interesting, definitely a cool combo. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Eric! Without my glasses I can't see anything but blur, but sometimes I don't wear them even though I should, haha! Glad you like the blog, it's a bit more personal than my Tumblr one (at least I think so). You'll have to pop by here again. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sarah! I thought the colors looked cool, too. And yeah, I will mos def keep pushing myself with fashion, that's half the fun, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks so much! :D
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is fantastic! I love taming the floral with a denim shirt - so cute! S
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I was so nervous to wear them together, especially the skirt, but it turned out ok, didn't it? :) Thanks for the sweet comment! <3
